Mark Your Calendars | Congressional Briefing: Preparing Teachers for SEL | By: Committee for Children School leaders, teachers, and parents agree that social-emotional learning (SEL) is a necessary component in a child’s education. As more SEL curricula and lessons are implemented in schools every year, teachers are reporting they feel ill-prepared to teach it in their classroom. In fact, only 22 percent of teachers who administer SEL programs feel “very prepared” to do so. On February 27, Committee for Children, in partnership with the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL), is hosting a congressional briefing in Washington, DC, to discuss the importance of teacher preparedness in SEL education and to present recommendations for how policymakers can prioritize SEL within teacher preparedness programs. Join Us If SEL’s successful implementation and administration is something you care about, you won’t want to miss this event.
